 2016 Preview

Cornerstone Christian finished the 2015 season with a disappointing 2-8 record. With their 1-3 region record and a fourth place finish in Class A region two, the Chargers earned a spot in the playoffs in 2015. Cornerstone Christian's season came to an end in the first round of the playoffs when they fell to South Choctaw Academy by a score of 20-13.

Since 2010, Cornerstone Christian has gone a combined 23-40. Their 36.0% winning percentage ranks 9th in Class AA over the past six seasons.

Over the past 16 seasons, Cornerstone Christian has managed to compile a record of 79-88. Their 47.0% winning percentage ranks 6th in Class AA and 22nd in the AISA.

The Chargers are led by head coach Tim Smith who is entering his seventeenth season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 79-88 over the past sixteen seasons at Cornerstone Christian. Under his direction the Chargers have qualified for the playoffs a total of ten times. They have not won a region crown with Coach Smith.

Coach Smith's overall record as a head football coach in sixteen season stands at 79-88 (47.3%).

It will be an uphill battle for the Chargers if they hope to grab one of the four playoff slots in region one this season. After just 2 wins last year, Cornerstone Christian will be hoping to become more competitive in the region.

The Chargers open the 2016 season on the road against non-region opponent Bessemer Academy on Thursday, August 25 at Rebels Field. Last year the Bessemer Academy Rebels finished with an overall record of 13-0 and in first place in Class AAA region two. The Rebels won the Class AAA State Championship last season when they defeated Monroe Academy by a score of 34-6 in Troy.

Cornerstone Christian and Bessemer Academy have met a total of 5 times on the football field. The Chargers have a 0-5-0 record against the Rebels. They last met in with
